An Ashford Homeschool Shakespeare Production Written by William Shakespeare Original Verse Adaptation by Richard Carter.
A Note From The Director:
Much Ado About Nothing is one of Shakespeare’s most beloved plays. It has all the qualities of a great comedy: a couple of sassy and witty protagonists, a lovable clownish character, and, of course, a double wedding ending. One of the things that sets Much Ado apart from other comedies is the emotional love story of Hero and Claudio. It is almost torn apart in a series of dramatic scenes orchestrated by the villain, Don John, and his henchman, Borachio. It is this subplot that gives Much Ado an emotional twist.
Shakespeare Conquest is a group of homeschoolers, ages 12 to 18, who spend countless hours rehearsing and studying Shakespeare. It is truly my pleasure to work with these incredible youth. This rendition of Much Ado About Nothing uses the words from Shakespeare’s original text and slightly rearranges some of the words to gain a rhyming couplet feel throughout the play, making it both easier to memorize and understand.
