A Note From The Director:
The Merry Wives of Windsor is the original spin-off play. Rumor has it that Queen Elizabeth I loved the character of Falstaff so much from Henry IV parts 1 and 2 and Henry V, that she asked William Shakespeare to write a play all about him. The Merry Wives of Windsor follows Falstaff as he tries to woo two married women who are too smart to be won over. They lay a series of traps for Falstaff that he falls for over and over again. Not one of Shakespeare’s most popular comedies, still troupes everywhere perform it. The Merry Wives of Windsor is uproariously witty and leaves audiences laughing till their sides ache.
