Twelfth Night is, traditionally, a celebration held the twelfth night after Christmas. During Shakespeare’s time, this celebration consisted of revelries and dressing up, including men dressing as women and so forth. Twelfth Night is a play about confusion and mix-ups. There is a set of twins, separated by a shipwreck that causes each of them to assume the other is drowned. A women falls in love with a woman dressed as a man. A man falls in love with a man who is actually a woman. All are looking for the hand of the dutchess, except for the one she loves. And a clown sings the entire time. This year marks the senior year of many of our beloved cast. As we say goodbye to these amazing young men and women, I want to give my sincere gratitude for being able to work with them for all these years, for their talents and devotion to the craft of theatre, and for teaching me how to “jellyfish.” Play On.
